I was born and raised in the Ohio River Valley, in a small town in West Virginia. Both of my parents were public educators who encouraged and supported me in all kinds of activities during my youth. I had a well-rounded childhood, being involved in various sports, music, and art. My family had a large farm where I developed a strong love of nature and outdoors, enjoying the art of fly-fishing in the mountain streams of West Virginia and Maryland as well as snow skiing down those same mountains during the winter months. After graduating with honors from high school, I went on to accept an academic scholarship from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.

I went on to graduate with a degree in Biochemistry from WVU, where I was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi national honor society. I then was accepted into the WVU School of Medicine, earning my MD degree in 2004. Following graduation, I moved to Lexington, KY and completed a 5-year surgical internship and residency in Otolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Kentucky. This specialized training consisted of caring for patients at the UK Chandler Medical Center, UK Children’s Hospital, and the Lexington Veterans Affairs Hospital. Following the completion of this training and serving as chief resident, I passed the board examination testing and have been Board Certified through the American Board of Otolaryngology since 2010.

My professional interests include pediatric otolaryngology, allergy and chronic sinusitis treatments, otology (chronic ear infections) and hearing disorders, and skin cancer surgery and reconstruction. I also have a strong commitment in staying current with new medical and surgical treatments within the field of ENT, including participating and conducting clinical research projects. I am an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery, the Kentucky Society of Otolaryngology, and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

On a personal note, my wife, Dana, and I have two young children, Carter David and Emma Grace. I am a Christian and have a strong commitment to mission work, both regionally and internationally. Outside of work and family, I enjoy jogging, fly-fishing, drawing and oil painting, and traveling.
