Having 2 young children makes the Christmas season very exciting. Carter David and Emma Grace have been enjoying all the festivities, from baking cookies to buying presents to singing Christmas tunes. A new Christmas Countdown clock (with a singing Santa, naturally) only added to the anticipation for Christmas Day. It all culminated this morining as they rushed downstairs and saw what Santa delivered, and then tore through wrapping paper to see their new gifts. The expression on their faces was that of pure joy and happiness. That same feeling of joy and happiness should be what comes into all of us, but not because of temporary gifts wrapped in boxes. The real and everlasting gift of Christmas is that God, the Great I AM, came down to Earth 2,000 years ago in the birth of a baby. The real gift of Christmas is Jesus Christ. I hope that all of us enjoy the baking (and eating), the singing, and the opening of presents this season. However, I pray that these things do not distract any of us from the real meaning of Christmas, because accepting the real meaning of Christmas will give joy and peace that never ends.
“And the angel said to them, Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:10-11
