My Baptism

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

On June 29, I was baptized in the Nolin River by my good friend, Pastor John Crunkelton. Being baptized was something I have recently thought a lot about. I was baptized while I was in middle school, so the question was imagewhy do it again. The more I meditated on that question, the answer became very clear that I should move forward.

Baptism is an outward acknowledgement of completely trusting in Jesus Christ. Until the past couple of years, that was not true for my life. Throughout most of my early adult years, I was living for no one but me. That is different now, and only because of knowing and accepting Jesus as my savior. Now, as a Christian, I wanted to make my proclamation of faith known to all.

Like all of us, I still will have times when I struggle with having a “me first” mentality, wanting to do things my own way. But I know that the one who has called me is also the one who died for me so that I may have full, abundant life. And in Him, and not my life’s circumstances, will my trust remain.

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'”
