My dad, R. Edward Wilson, was awarded the annual Alumnus of the Year for St. Mary’s High School. His commitment and dedication to the community, the school and its students was recognized. All of the time, energy, and love that he poured into the people and the community was acknowledged. This time, a good guy won.
It was great for me and my family to see Dad appreciated for all he has done. In fact, I expect we are happier about it than he is. And this speaks to the one characteristic of my dad that has always stood out to me: his humility. He just does his job, giving it his all every time, and he expects nothing in return. He got that trait from both my Grandma and late Grandpa Wilson, who I know is up in heaven saying, “That’s my boy.”
Congratulations, Dad. You truly deserve this award. You have taught, but more importantly, exemplified the principles of teamwork, perseverance, integrity and humility. You have positively impacted countless peoples’ lives. We are all better because of knowing you. And for this, I am very proud of you.
Luke 14:11 “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
